10 must see DVD's for June

Here are 10 movies I have seen somewhat recently that are now on DVD that I feel are must see movies. Listed in no particular order...

1. "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" The most underrated film of 2007. Amazing performance by Casey Affleck that earned him an Oscar Nomination. Personally I feel his acting was on par with Javier Bardem's in "No Country For Old Men" who won the best support actor award. Brad Pitt is oustanding as well and the cinematography is phenomenal.

2. "There Will Be Blood"  The best film of 2007 IMO. See it more than once!

3. "No Country For Old Men" The Oscar winner and my 3rd favorite film of last year is definitely a must see and should encourage you to go see every Cohen Brothers film they have ever made because they have the classics like "The Big Lebowski" and "Fargo" but they have some lesser known gems as well such as "The Man Who Wasn't There" "Lady Killers" and "Intolerable Cruelty" among others.

4. "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story"  I love this movie and wish it would have been released at another time besides this past Christmas. However some don't love it or even like it. I say give it a chance because it really is funny and not your typical spoof movie.

5. "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" An amazing documentary about 2 men who LOVE playing Donkey Kong. Seriously, its awsome!!!

6. "Lars and the Real Girl" I will have a film review for this one coming sometime soon because I recently watched it and enjoyed it very much. It is an odd story but, touching and a must see in my mind!

7. "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" Excellent film with the great Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke and the the gorgeous Marisa Tomei... Naked... Several times... Need any more reason? No but seriously it really is a great heist gone wrong flick.

8.  "Gone Baby Gone" More Casey Affleck, have your self a CA film festival and see this and Ass. of JJ ASAP!!!

9. "American Gangster" Most people have probably seen this by now but if you have not give it a look. Denzel, Russell, Ridley, enough for me.

10. "Michael Clayton"  George Clooney stars in this Oscar nominated film with great performances across the board. It is a slow burn of a film but worth watching.
